VOC 2019 Stage 1
An area with skyscrapers and multilevel parts, home to the Vienna International Centre, on the New Danube. The area is adjacent to Donaupark, a very lovely park with beautiful flowers and lakes. A fast sprint area, but you need to keep focused so you don't end up on a wrong level.
University Campus Altes AKH
VOC 2020 Candidate
Emperor Joseph II had the former General Poorhouse converted into a General Hospital based on the model of the Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Paris. Today, it is a university campus and with its many courtyards, alleyways and stairs very suitable for city orienteering.
Türkenschanzpark is known for its interesting, rare botanical plants, which are extremely picturesque features in the undulating landscape. The unusual makeup of the landscape is another of the park's appealing features. Hills are interspersed with meadows, and meandering paths in combination with the surrounding area of the University of Natural Resources (BOKU) makes it an excellent sprint area. The park's name comes from the historical Turkish entrenchments found at the site.
Internationally recognized architects designed the new campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). Vienna therefore not only has a new university, but also a new destination for people with an interest in architecture. The venue with its interesting building shapes, stairs, and rooftops is the perfect setting for sprint orienteering. First time ever used for orienteering!
