Here you get an overview over possible event venues, more will be added later. To keep things fair, the final selection (3 venues) will be announced just-in-time: 3 weeks before the event.
University Campus Altes AKH
Emperor Joseph II had the former General Poorhouse converted into a General Hospital based on the model of the Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Paris. Today, it is a university campus and with its many courtyards, alleyways and stairs very suitable for sprint orienteering.
Donaupark / Donau City
On the other side of the Danube, the Donaupark is home to Austria’s highest building and thus one of Vienna’s most famous attractions – the Danube Tower. The Donaupark was created during the Vienna International Garden Show in 1964. Today a trip with the Donaupark train is a special delight.
The Donaupark has numerous flowerbeds and water features such as a large pond in the center. The park is adjacent to Donau City (VOC 2019 Stage 1), an area with skyscrapers and multilevel parts, home to the Vienna International Centre.
The giant grounds consist of many individual sections and were opened in 1974 as part of Vienna’s International Garden Show. It consists of thematic sections, such as the Allergy Garden, Flower Labyrinth, Film City or Japanese Garden. The park is hilly and consists of many ponds. Ideal for route choice legs.
The University of Natural Resources (BOKU) campus area, surrounding parks and residential areas with many stairs makes an excellent sprint area. VOC 2019 Stage 2 was held just a few meters away (in Türkenschanzpark), so you might feel familiar if we will come back to this venue.
